Innosofts Announces PMDF for Digital UNIX

Innosoft International Inc. has released PMDF for Digital UNIX, a UNIX version of its Internet-style e-mail solution.

In PMDF for Digital UNIX, the PMDF-MTA (Message Transfer Agent) avoids the security problems in sendmail. For example, PMDF does not run with root access, making it difficult for an intruder to tamper with someones mail or interrupt programs. PMDF also restricts use of the mail system for executing UNIX commands on the host machine; control remains in the hands of the system administrator thus eliminating command errors.

PMDF-MTA can be interconnected with other specialized messaging environments using additional products such as PMDF-X400, a direct link to any standards-based X.400 mail system, and PMDF-MB400, which provides SMTP/MIME connectivity specifically to Digitals MAILbus 400 system.

Software licensing fees for a typical installation will range from $8,000 to $15,000 or more, depending upon the level of PMDF functionality selected for implementation by the customer.
