NewCode Technology Announces Embedded C++ Interpreter

NewCode Technology Inc. has announced the release of its embeddable C++ interpreter, NCi. The company has also made a free version of the interpreter available for preliminary evaluation.

NCi is a standards-compliant C++ interpreter designed to be embedded in end-user applications. NCi becomes a run-time component of an application, allowing application developers to provide end-users with the ability to dynamically extend functionality in their C++ products. As a result, code can be reused, new behavior is added more easily, the architecture of distributed C++ applications is simplified, and the useful life of the product is extended.

NCi allows interpreted code to call compiled code with full type checking. It also allows new variables, functions, and types (including subclasses) to be created at run time. In addition, it ensures proper interaction between all interpreted code and compiled code.

NCi is currently available on HP-UX and Solaris. Pricing ranges from under $100 to $1,500, depending on volume. For preliminary evaluation, the interpreter can be downloaded via FTP on the Internet.
