About com.ms.service

This package allows you to write a Microsoft® Windows NT® system service. System services do not work under Microsoft® Windows 95®. For more information about Windows NT system services, see the Microsoft Win32 SDK.

There are two classes:

Class Service	Creates a Windows NT® system service. Derive your own class from this class.
Class ServiceStatus	Contains state information for the service. For more information, see the SERVICE_STATUS structure in the Win32 SDK documentation.

• You must place JavaService.dll somewhere in your path.
• You derive your own class from the Service class rather than creating an instance of it.
• You implement your own versions of methods that start with handle for requests your service handles. These methods handle the various system service requests.
• You can use the methods beginning with can to test which controls are accepted by a service rather than testing the flags returned from ControlsAccepted().
• You can use an "assassin" to terminate a service that exceeds the waithint value.
