Mailing List Membership

You can use this dialog to manage one specific mailing list in the EMWAC Internet Mail Services. See the page on mailing lists for further details.

Mailing list name
This shows the name of the mailing list in question. If you are creating a new mailing list, you can specify its name here. If you are editing an existing mailing list, you may not change its name.

Non-delivery reports
If a message to an address on the mailing list cannot be delivered, this specifies what should be done. The options are:

  1. Discard the message without generating a non-delivery report (the default).
  2. Return to sender indicate that the message sender should receive the non-delivery report.
  3. Send to the non-delivery report to a specified email address.

Moderated List
You can specify the mail address of a "moderator" for the list. The moderator can elect to control who can join the list and/or who can leave it:

  1. Moderator Control Join any JOIN message to this list will be forwarded to the moderator.
  2. Moderator Control Leave any LEAVE message to this list will be forwarded to the moderator.
If a list is not moderated, anyone can join or leave the list by sending a message with JOIN or LEAVE in its body to the the -request address of the list.

Now a list can be configured to allow Anyone, Member only, or Moderator only to post messsages to the list. The default is Member only.

Membership
The dialog contains a scrolling list of all the addresses on the mailing list. Selecting one and clicking Delete will cause the address to be removed from the list. Note that if a user joins or leaves the list using a mail message to the -request address while the dialog is displayed, the change will be lost when you click on OK.

You can Import members for a list from a text file. The Import brings up a standard file open dialog.

You can Export members from a list to a text file. The Export brings up a standard file open dialog.

The format for the text file is that each line should contain one RFC822 conformed email address. Lines started with a line with "#" are comment.

Here is a sample file:
