EMWAC Internet Mail Services for Windows NT (Beta test version 0.8x)

***PowerPC Support Now***

The EMWAC Internet Mail Services for Windows NT (known as "IMS") are a suite of server programs which allow you to use Windows NT as a mail server for Internet mail. The EMWAC IMS requires an NTFS partition and Windows NT 3.51 or higher. With IMS, your Windows NT machine can receive messages from Internet, put them in individual users' incoming mail boxes, accept outgoing mail from users, and relay that mail to its destination anywhere on the Internet. It supports mail aliases, and can also run (optionally moderated) mailing lists.

This is a hypertext manual describing the Internet Mail Services. You should read it if you plan to install, operate, manage or deinstall the IMS software. This manual assumes you have a reasonable degree of competence in the use of Windows NT, and are familiar with Internet mail and the function of the SMTP and POP3 protocols. But the knowledge of the SMTP and POP3 protocols is not essential.

We have set up a list called <IMSUsers@tweed.emwac.ed.ac.uk>. The list is an unmoderated list for discussions of bugs, problems, and enhancements regarding EMWAC IMS.

You can join this list by sending "JOIN" as the message body to imsusers-request@tweed.emwac.ed.ac.uk.
You can leave this list by sending "LEAVE" as the message body to imsusers-request@tweed.emwac.ed.ac.uk.

There is another receive-only mailing list <ims-announce@tweed.emwac.ed.ac.uk> for the IMS development team to make announcements of bug alerts, new releases, suggested work-arounds in the interim, etc. Thanks for the suggestion from
